My Family's Mission to Provide Service to the DR
We were finally able to bring dental supplies to the extremely poor in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The community we were in was extremely grateful (and that’s an understatement) and now they have enough supplies to last them for years thanks to our friends Lan at 32 Dental Practice, Rory Sprouse of Sprouse Dental and Stephanie Cann and Dr. Kwon at Kwon Pediatric Dentistry.

There are millions here that live on about 1/3 of the monthly income of my friend’s in the slums of Tijuana, Mexico who work in the US factories making $195 a week. 1/3 of $195 a week.
The population of the DR is about 10.5 million- 20% expats and some rich, the rest- extremely poor, per American standards.
But, as my new friend Mike says, this is the mindset here of the plenty who live on almost nothing…
“Today the sun is shining, great, I can put my clothes out to dry….
Oh, today is raining? Great, I can rinse the soap out of my clothes and my gardens will grow today…
Today is overcast, wonderful, I can go to the market without an umbrella and have two hands available for my items.”
